Vegetation characteristics can be obtained by reflectance measurements. The potential to link this to biomass, phenology, vegetation greening, species composition and especially physiological performance remains un-explored with respect to impact of ecosystem manipulations. This motivates an investigation of the potential of using spectral data as predictors of changes in vegetation characteristics and plant physiological performance. The project involves cross disciplinary work (plant eco-physiology and geography) and will be closely supervised.
