CLIMAITE has established an experimental research site on the military training site “Brandbjerg” near Jægerspris, 50 km NW of Copenhagen. CO₂, temperature, and precipitation are manipulated to simulate the climate predicted for Denmark in the year 2075. The facility was started October 3rd 2005. Centre researchers continuously study the effects of the climate manipulations on biological processes in the soil, plants and fauna. Research activities are carried out within octagonal plots, each subdivided into smaller experimental units. These receive different combinations of elevated CO₂(FACE technique), temperature and altered precipitation, and the effects of these treatments are then compared.
